Today, I basically wanted a chance to introduce myself to everyone and talk a little about my experience working with Chelsea. I have been working with Chelsea since before we even started dating and she has taught me so much. From photography to lighting to business operations and especially client interaction, Chelsea excels across the board and has been a great teacher.

As a second shooter at a wedding, my main job is to assist Chelsea in any way she needs. Beyond that, I capture secondary pictures as Chelsea photographs the primary images. Chelsea is good enough to get all of the most imporant stuff herself, but she cannot be everywhere at once and see everything at the same time. That’s where I come in! I am able to fill in the gaps and capture moments that may occur at the same time as, say, the bride getting ready. Or I will capture the same moment but simply from another perspective:

This image is a great example. As Chelsea was taking photos of Jackie with her bridesmaids, I noticed one of the flowergirls looking on. She couldn’t take her eyes off of Jackie all day! So while Chelsea was getting her shot, I grabbed the one below.

During this First Look, my job was to capture DJ’s face. He’s not shy about showing how he feels and that led to this telling reaction when he first saw Kelly in her wedding dress:

While Chelsea is capturing the bride getting ready, I often go with the groom as he gets ready and get some solo shots of him. This shot I set up with Alex was one of my favorite all year. He had to squeeze behind some tight, dusty pews but the mood created by the lighting produced a nice shot. Thanks for being a good sport, Alex!

This shot below was not posed. Hong waits for Matt to arrive so they can begin the traditional games leading into the tea ceremony.

Traveling to Old Alexandria, VA to shoot Tracey and Dan’s wedding was a blast! Dan was such a card the whole time (he kind of reminded me of Captain Hammer). Here he is not goofing off, but really fighting the wind. The weather was starting to get BAD. A few hours later and that street was completely flooded!

So anyway, thanks for taking the time to read (and see) things from my point of view! I really enjoy working with Chelsea and meeting the wonderful people we get to shoot. Now I’ll give the blog back to my beautiful, talented, intelligent, funny, and charming wife…(How’s that, Honey?)

Nikki + Marc’s Swamp Trash the Dress photo shoot (blogged here and here) has been featured on Rock n Roll Bride, one of my personal favorite wedding blogs. When I found out that Kat (the rockin’ editor and owner of Rock n Roll Bride and a fellow pink hair fanatic) was going to feature the shoot, I was totally psyched. Well, I still am totally psyched! HOORAY!

She is stunningly beautiful with a laugh and smile that go beyond the superficial straight to your heart. Yeah, that’s right–she is an all around awesome person AND super talented, too. Seriously, if you are getting married, this gal is you want spending the morning with you, making you look fabulous!

Obviously, she styled her own hair and makeup for this shoot, but she is also the brilliant hair and makeup artist behind Christina’s Old Hollywood styled Autumn shoot and Carolyn + Geoff’s October Anniversary shoot, as well as The Not Wedding 2011.

Brock and I honeymooned in Orlando last December (2010) and headed back this past New Year’s Eve weekend (we love travel!). We rarely get to shoot for sheer personal pleasure, and it was nice wandering around Downtown Disney, shooting to my heart’s content.

Raglan Road. Best food, entertainment, and atmosphere ever. The whole reason we headed to Orlando for New Year’s before Tampa for the game was to go to Raglan Road. We adore Irish culture–music, dancing–all of it!

This is Mary + Chris–a fabulous couple that we spent most of the night with–they were so much fun and our New Year’s would not have been quite the same without them! They are engaged and we got to immortalize their 2012 kiss!

Creel, the house band at Raglan Road, played us into the New Year. Colin Farrell (the violinist and piper) is extremely talented–ridiculously so.

Amanda’s family has a house on the lake. Alex’s family has a house on the lake.

And one fateful night, they ended up at the same house on the lake. It was sealed from that night–they were simply meant to be together. The lake is so them–the homes, their families, the closeknit community–it only makes sense to take their engagement photos at Lake Burton in Northern Georgia.

Even after our shoot was over, we stayed chatting in the warmth of their little cozy lake house, and I couldn’t help thinking how great Amanda + Alex are–both so sweet, friendly, and wholeheartedly kind.

Disclaimer: I did not iron the backdrop. I was too busy cooking mac n’ cheese and praline bacon (favorite food ever) and watching The Muppet Christmas Carol (which, made me cry. A Christmas Carol always makes me cry.) Next year, I may or may not iron the backdrop. We’ll see

This is our natural reaction to Mal playing the baritone. Seriously, it is.

Oh, River. Can you see the expression of fear? She was nervously skittish (yes, I am using nervous as an adjective for skittish) for an hour after this traumatic experience.

Brock has a very volatile relationship with his frog. He is always seeking approval, but Frog won’t give him so much as a high five.

Then, he and Frog are best buddies.

Next thing you know, Frog is attacking him, all with a smile on his face.

Then they make up and are best buddies again, only to repeat the treacherous cycle again.

Oh, and then Brock turns Frog into a football.
