She only knew him from afar, as he played violin and piano in worship services. She watched him from her spot singing in the choir and remembers, one day, being struck by the way he moved with such honesty and passion as he poured his heart and soul into the music. His surrendered heart poured into every note unashamedly for the whole world to see. And by the time she came to know Daniel for his crazy, silly, daring ways, she was sunk.

He first noticed the way she devoted herself fully to everything with a love and abandon that was irresistable. He loves that, with Aly, nothing is about the “event”; it’s totally about the journey. And while many people say that, watching Aly changed his definition of living for the journey. She came alongside him and his reckless abandon for breaking the “expected” and walked with him with utter peace amidst absolute uncertainty.

They are both hopeless romantics and best friends.

Watch Aly + Daniel together and you will know that you have seen true love and friendship flowing in perfect harmony within a relationship.

So, at this point, Daniel was actually playing. The music echoed through the surrounding woods and I felt like I was living a scene from an incredible, epic, romance.

Daniel even obliging played a bit of the Firefly theme for Brock and me. *heart flutters*

You see this stance? That is the way they collide–she naturally falls into him as he supports her.

I seriously did not pose this one–I was changing lenses and looked up and there they were, dancing in the grass in the late day sun. ADORABLE.

Gotta love the yellow flowers–Liz + Neal are using bright oranges and yellows in their wedding, so we had to take advantage of these!

We had a blast and I love that I shot for myself personally. I encourage others to hire me because those moments and stages are so fleeting, and yet I don’t do it for myself as often as I should, so here’s to walking the walk

No matter what flavors Malachi gets when we go for frozen yogurt, he always tops it with colored sprinkles.

My absolute favorite frozen yogurt combination is Yoforia’s Taro yogurt drizzled with sweetened and condensed milk. And by “drizzled” I mean “poured/”

Malachi’s latest quest includes running and jumping on walls. This game does not have a name yet, but I am sure it will very soon.

My kiddo is the only 7-year-old boy I have ever met who says, “Mommy, look at those trees and the sunlight–isn’t that just beautiful?” This is his shot:

These two shots are both Malachi’s. I did not tell him how to take the shot or even suggest using mirrors. He just got all excited and said he had a good idea and so I let him use my camera. The focus is all him as well.

Kristen + Kyle are celebrating their one year anniversary this month, and they just welcomed their precious little Khloe into the world last week! I am so incredibly happy for all of the wonderful things happening for this family, and I can’t wait to meet their sweet girl myself!

Top three reasons I love them (though there are many more):

#1 They are ridiculously attractive.

#2 They (and by “they” I mean primarily “Merissa”) put effort into their styling for the day–stylish clothing, coordinated but not matchy matchy, accessories, and beautiful hair and makeup for Merissa. Kudos to Miles for his hat, for sure, though :)

#3 They gave me free creative reign and trusted me completely. Ahhh. Heart flutters.

Let me just say that I loved these two from the start. They knew they wanted a photographer who knew how to control lighting in any circumstance (clients who appreciate both the artistic side of photography as well as technical knowledge of the craft are A++ in my book). Tiffany is a personal chef in the Atlanta area and started out our chatting via email with a photo of a homemade Mint Mocha Latte that she whipped up (pun SO intended ). Then, to top it off, they suggested doing their engagement shoot at Highland Cigar Bar (a big THANK YOU shout out to the owner who graciously allowed us to photograph in this beautiful bar). First, I squealed “OMG!” to myself, then I chilled out and I was all like, “DUDE–that would be awesome!”

This is DEFINITELY my favorite shot of this shoot. It’s in the running for one of my favorite shots of all time. Just sayin.

Basically, Kristin and Stanley did a First Look (woohoo) and we took all of their bride and groom photos earlier in the day. Then, after the wedding, the family formals, and well into the reception, Brock and I stole them both away from the reception for a short period of time–like 10 minutes tops. We headed to the rooftop of the Capital City Club and did another (mini) photo shoot. At this point, they were relaxed,happy to be married and enjoying the celebration! The most awesome thing about doing this second little shoot is that we were able to give Kristin + Stanley even more variety in their couple’s portraits–literal night vs. day

These were all taken in one location, in a minimal time span, but they are easily some of my faves of the day! Brock and I also just love working with lighting at dusk and after sundown–we admit it: we are light nerds
